Don Brown, B.A. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, he graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in English and Psychology. After a fellowship in the directing program at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, he became story editor at Universal Studios under producer (now director), Rob Cohen (Dragon, The Fast and the Furious, XXX). After working on The Wiz, he became National Programming Supervisor at Los Angeles Public Television, working with Carl Sagan on Cosmos, and eventually moved on to become Program Supervisor for Paramount Television, where he was privileged to work on Ingrid Bergman¹s last production, A Woman Called Golda, and on the second and third Star Trek movies. screenplays and became a frequent contributor to Excel,
a San Francisco-based magazine. On assignment for the magazine, he was sent
to Honolulu in 1988 to write articles on the Pacific Rim. Living on Oahu,
the Big Island of Hawaii and Kauai deepened his appreciation of the cultures
of Hawaii, and he never left the islands. He became film curator for the Honolulu Academy of Arts from 1996 to 2002, before the assuming the position of manager and later marketing director for the Restaurant Row 9 Art House Theaters. He is presently producing a new series about Hawaii filmmakers for Oceanic Cable 16, "Hawaii¹s Reel Stories." |

Genie Joseph, M.A. is the CEO of Hawaii Movie
Studios. She is an award
winning film and television director. Her feature films have been on
Variety’s Top 50 list and have won international awards. As a staff
producer/director at KITV-4, (The ABC Affiliate in Honolulu) she directed
hundreds of TV commercials. Genie is the author of fifteen screenplays –
five of which have been sold and produced by independent companies. |

Roy J. Tjioe, Esq.
is the coordinating partner of the Entertainment Law Group at Goodsill
Anderson Quinn & Stifel. He was a panel speaker at Film Industry Day 2003,
and taught "An Overview of Legal Issues Affecting Filmmakers in Hawaii” at
Pacific New Media. He regularly contributes articles to Hawaii Film and
Video magazine and is active in helping to develop the local film and TV
industries.
As a writer, he won Third Place (drama) in the American Accolades Screenwriting Competition and reached the quarterfinals of the CineStory and Hollywood's Next Success contests. As an actor, he has performed in numerous community theatre productions, and most recently appeared in Blood of the Samurai (series) and Agent Orange (film). Roy's artwork has been featured on the covers of the Hawaii Bar Journal and Annual Directory of Attorneys. |
